Recently, I spent time in Spain tracking the footsteps of the Great Salvador Dali. His famous "Melting Clock" paintings have always been an object of my affection. While I was there I was taken back by the magic created by the papier maché artisans in Spain and Southern France. These whimsical, papier maché clocks are a product of that inspirational journey. They make a rare, one of a kind gift for any Dali lover.

Process:

In the tradition of the beloved European papier-mache carnival masks, these clock sculptures have been constructed for superb durability and strength, while offering a relatively lightweight hanging form. Over the course of many days, each sculpture must endure a process which includes layering multiple grades of papier mache over an unyielding, hand sculpted armature. It's during this vigorous process, combined with an artistic eye to detail, that each sculpture finally starts to capture its own weird and wonderful "melting" pose. After applying a generous base coat, the artist is ready to breathe life into each form by applying premier acrylic paints and fanciful finishes, true to her signature style.

Each clock becomes its own unique work of art. Quality is tedious, yet it is of the utmost importance to the artist. To fully weather the test of time, the final clock sculpture is double coated with a water resistant protectant and fitted with a Quartz clock movement and hands. Clocks are signed on back and come with one AA battery.

Sizes:

Clocks come in three series of sizes: Series 1 (small), Series 2 (medium), Series 3 (Large). Dimensions of clocks are rounded up to the inch and measured vertically from highest point of clock to lowest. Width equals longest distance horizontally across clock.
