Quite simply, the giclée printing process provides the closest duplication of an original artwork that is humanly, mechanically or technically possible. The giclée print now rivals many traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art and photography galleries.

The Term: The term "giclée print" connotes a revolutionary elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed on enhanced digital ink jet printers, using archival quality inks, onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper.

From a hundred inkjets, more than a million droplets of ink per second are sprayed on a canvas or watercolor paper spinning on a drum. A completed image is comprised of almost 20 billion droplets of ink. The resulting print has no perceptible dot pattern, an endless array of richly saturated color, and every nuance of the original image.

The most archival, water -based, light-fast inks available in the world are used to guarantee a 70 year light-fastness and UV-resistance under museum archival conditions.

The Definition: giclée (ghee-clay) - The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt".

::THE PROCESS OF MAKING A MONE ' MUSEL GICLEE PRINT:: Produced at New Era Publishing, an international leader in print publishing

Step 1: My original paintings are scanned using a large format Cruse scanning system, currently the finest scanning technology in the world. This is the same scanner technology used by the Vatican, the Archives at Versailles, and the National Archives Museum of London. While this is a much more costly process than simply photographing the painting, it delivers a perfect reproduction of the original, unmatched by any other image capturing technology on the market.

Using professional IRIS, state-of-the-art printers and archival inks, each giclée is printed on premium canvas and coated with a fine art protectant. Every nuance is captured at the highest possible resolution for unparalleled beauty and quality.

I am a perfectionist, and every image must be proofed for accuracy several times before it gets my final stamp of approval.

Step 2::HAND EMBELLISHING::THE CREATIVE EDGE::

I personally embellish each limited edition giclée print with intricate, artful accents and details throughout the entire piece. I add my signature impasto textures, dramatic effects and brushstrokes back into the image using the same professional acrylic paints and colors that I use on my original paintings.

Hand embellished fine art giclée prints are painstakingly and artistically enhanced by the artist's hand. For this reason, they are more valuable and cherished by galleries, museums, and art collectors alike. They are also extremely archival meaning they can be displayed and heirloomed throughout several generations to come.

The results are outstanding, truly a work of art onto itself! You will be amazed at the similarity between one of my giclées and the original piece. It truly is the next best thing to owning one of my original paintings.

When you purchase a limited edition giclée print direct from my studio, you receive much more value for your investment than you would purchasing the same print through a gallery or publishing house. Purchasing a hand embellished fine art giclée at a gallery costs 2-3 times the cost of an unenhanced fine art print. I offer all of my giclée prints with hand embellishments at no addtional charge.
